Still Browser is provided by Shayne McCulloch. This policy covers the Still app. Updated 4 November 2026.
Data on your device.
Still stores tabs, recently closed pages, favourites, website profiles, public-screen settings, feed headlines and read markers on your device to provide browsing and reading. Websites can store cookies, sign-ins, cache and other website data. Temporary tabs use non-persistent website storage and are not restored after closing the app.
Still encrypts its saved browsing and reader files. PIN verification records, the file encryption key and proxy credentials use the system Keychain. Website databases use WebKit and operating-system storage protections; not every setting is encrypted with Still’s file key. Still does not receive your biometric data: Apple’s authentication system returns an authentication result.
Connections and other services.
Still does not operate a browsing-history server, cloud-sync account, advertising service or in-app analytics service. We do not receive your browsing history, PINs or website passwords, and do not sell browsing data or track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
Websites, the DuckDuckGo search service, configured RSS feeds and Hacker News discussion services receive the network requests needed to show their content, including your network address and the information you send them. Public websites and feeds may load while Still is locked. Their own privacy policies apply. An optional proxy is supplied by you; its operator can observe connection information. Still’s proxy is not a device-wide VPN and does not cover every connection or external service.
Permissions.
Camera and microphone requests are off in new tabs until you enable them. A website must then obtain permission before use. You can turn these tab options off and revoke system access in Settings. Motion readings are used locally for face-down locking, not saved or sent to us; you can disable that feature in Privacy & locking. Biometric authentication is used to protect access to the app.
Still Plus.
The seven-day preview stores an end date locally and does not charge you automatically. Apple processes optional subscriptions. Still checks Apple-signed purchase information to determine access; we do not receive your payment-card details. Manage or cancel subscriptions through Apple. Erasing Still’s local data does not cancel a subscription or delete Apple’s transaction records.
Retention and deletion.
Saved app data stays on your device until you remove it. In Settings → Website data, manage individual sites, clear all site data, or choose Erase everything & reset Still and verify your normal PIN to remove all local Still data and settings. The optional wipe PIN clears private browsing data but keeps the public screen and PINs. Neither action erases information already received by websites, Apple, proxy providers or support, or copies in device backups. Device backup and restore settings are managed by your operating system.
Support and your choices.
If you contact us, we receive the contact details and message you choose to send, use them to respond, and retain them as needed to resolve the enquiry and meet legal obligations. Do not send PINs, passwords or private browsing data. You can ask for access, correction or deletion of information you have sent us at support@stillbrowser.com. Our support website uses Cloudflare hosting and spam protection, and optional consent-based Google Analytics; its separate website privacy notice explains these services.
Privacy limits.
Still’s lock protects access on this device; it does not make you anonymous online. Screenshot and recording protection cannot guarantee that content will never be captured. Anyone who can unlock the public screen can see its content. Future material changes to data handling will be reflected in this policy.
